Website Migration Guide
A website migration is a controlled move of site files, databases, configuration, and related services from one hosting environment to another.
Before the move
- Create a current backup
- Inventory files, databases, email, DNS, SSL, and scheduled tasks
- Confirm what the new host will migrate
- Keep access to the old environment during testing
During and after the move
Test the migrated site before changing DNS where possible. After the change, check forms, logins, images, redirects, email, SSL, analytics, and other integrations.
How to Choose a Web Host
